Gettin' Ready to Ride

Well here it is the night before we travel from SJC to Dallas to CID (Cedar Rapids) in the heart of God's Country. It's been a busy few days getting the deck cleared and things prepped. Tonight, Steve came over and I packed his bike for him. He couldn't believe that it fit in such a small container. Neither one of us are mechanical geniuses, but I seem to be a few laps ahead on that score.

Check out the RAGBRAI.com website for route info and great photo albums. In spite of the party pictures, it is 70 miles a day and 5,000 feet of cumulative climbing for the first two days. There will be a lot of tired riders after that.

Here's to 7 days of tailwinds.....Cheers!

  1. Have a great trip to Iowa. Be sure and carb load (pasta, cakes and those good Midwest pies) to help you through the rides. I can't wait to read about your trip. Good Luck

  2. A great comment from Jim to Larry:

"Larry, You are my new hero. Please let us know of every trick you pull on him. Remember that he will only be happy when he is tired, hot & beat up. He will not need 3 meals a day. 3 or 4 hours of sleep is way too much for him. The more he snivels the more he the more enjoyment he has. Thanks for not telling him the truth about the length of the trip. Have fun. JIM"
