And We're Off

Started the morning full of pep and vinegar. "Lance" felt a waffle and some rhubarb pie was needed to fuel th ride for the day.
Glenwood Town Square

1st mail stop

Before we started, we visited the first mail stop in Glenwood, and gathered at the town square then on the road with a quick lemonade break. Looking good.
A few pictures from today's ride to give you  a flavor of our amazing journey

By 2PM, we were 75%  along the route, just outside of Griswold. (see map below). Come on Lance, only 15 miles to go for today!

From President Larry:
"It's 85, sunny, and  hot. Have done at least 30 Sand Hill Roads.  We're pedaling and drinking lots of Gatorade.  Just outside of Griswold, IA.  The corn looks really tall and good. Gotta go!"

Along the road, we found Mr. Pork Chop, an Iowa tradition and  a new toy that Steve said he had to have, a new seedeater for his yard. When he finishes, maybe we can all pitch together and buy him one :)

And with only 7 miles left for the day, "Lance" takes one last swig, mounts his steafdy ride and heads for the finish for day 1.

  1. Way to go Steve! I hope you give partial credit of the success of Day 1 to that waffle! If you need to take a brief rest somewhere along the road, pull off by the side of the road and make a brief speech about how great Rotary is. Then, later, you can put in your resume that you once gave a speech that fell on 5,000 ears!
The best of everything to you on your fantastic journey!
