Day 2- A Tough Road- Rotarians are Tougher

An early awakening in Atlantic, Iowa. I still can't believe we are doing this, wasn't one day enough!! An inspiring sunrise and we were off at dawn for our 70 miles. (Doesn't everyone do this everyday?)

After a quick 14 miles to get our blood going, we stopped for a wonderful breakfast hosted by the great people of Elkhorn, boy were we hungry and boy was the food good. Thanks for the fuel.

Approaching Manning, Iowa
Back on the road and heading for one of the highlights of the day, the singing nuns of Manning Iowa, Lance sure does fit right in with those nice ladies and they even offered to sing a little prayer to help get him to the finish line- thanks ladies.

Back on the road as we headed towards Templeton, where we were greeted by some wonderful natives. The best part of this ride may be the nice people we are meeting along the way, of course we enjoyed a nice lunch in Templeton as we prepared for our final 20 mile push.

One of the special people Lance and I met up with was Scott Stauffer, fellow Rotarian, these guys just show up everywhere. It's wonderful to see us out in force here in Iowa.

Along our route today, we spied a few things we wanted to pass along; another post office (seems like one in every town (ha ha), a pie booth (Hey Eleanor- we are looking for these as much as we can) and a real-live IOWA SUV, not that's an SUV, none of this California Pansy SUV's here in Iowa.
After a long 70 miles and over 4700 feet of climb, Lance deserved some relaxation. It's off to dinner, swapping some stories with new friends and a lot of rest to prepare for Day 3.  Onward and Eastward (or something like that).
